Lessons to Think About: Responding to Jesus' Call

Monday, Nov. 26, 2007
The following lesson was prepared by Rolly Tolentino.
"I have not come to invite the self-righteous to a change of heart, but sinners." - Luke 5:32

When I heard that Jesus was inviting me to follow him, I responded to His call with a resounding YES! I told the Lord that I am His, and that I will give Him all my weaknesses, failures, and all my sins. I confessed that I am powerless to change my heart and my life, but with Him, nothing is impossible. Jesus whispered in my heart that I am His, and that He loves me and cares for me deeply. He had promised that He will change me and use me for His purpose and will.

Jesus came to forgive, to heal, to redeem and to use us as His instruments of His love. In this redemptive process, Jesus enables us, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to grow in love with Him and to be a new creation. This is the prime motive in responding to His call.
