If we have genuinely made a commitment to Jesus Christ, we need to grow! An amazing
transformation takes place the moment we pray and genuinely commit our life to Jesus
Christ. We are spiritually born! Unless we are born again, we cannot see the kingdom of
God, as John 3:3 tells us.
Just as a newborn baby is to grow physically, so are we to grow spiritually. A baby
grows with the intake of food and the love of a family. In like manner, a person who is a
spiritual newborn will grow with the intake of spiritual food (the Bible) and the love of
their spiritual family (the Church)
Let me share with you five means of growth:
- BIBLE. Read one chapter of the BIBLE each day. 1 Peter 2:2 says, "As newborn
babies, desire the pure milk of the word of God."
- PRAYER. Spend time each day in PRAYER conversing with God. Prayer is our
direct communication line to God in heaven. We should pray about everything.
Matthew 21:22 says, "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in
prayer."
- WORSHIP. Worship regularly in Church. It is a vital aspect of growth. God loves
us and wants to spend time with us. God the Father seeks people to worship HIM
in spirit and truth (John 4:23). The Bible clearly teaches the benefits and
blessings of worship.
- FELLOWSHIP. Fellowship with Christians who will help us grow in faith.
Fellowship with other Christians is not only a joy, but is absolutely essential
to our growth. We learn and are encouraged by one another Hebrew 10:24 says,
"And let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds."
- WITNESS. Be a WITNESS by telling others what Jesus Christ means to us.
Witnessing is sharing the joy of our salvation with others. Our friends and
family members need to know how to receive the gift of eternal life, too.
God has a place of victory for all of us. We may be facing challenges. In the natural,
it may look like things won't ever change, but God is saying, "Quit looking at your
circumstances and look up! Lift up your eyes of faith and look beyond where you are
because there is a victory as far as the eyes can see."
Your enemies may have some power today, but remember, our God is All Powerful! There is
no foe that can stand against Him. Those things we are facing are temporary, but God
Almighty is eternal. He is the God who flung the stars into space and who spoke the world
into existence. When He said, "Let there be light," light came at 186,000 miles per
second. That's power and that's the God we serve.
