Lessons to Think About: It is Good

Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010
The following lesson was prepared by Rolly Tolentino.
"It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name. O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night." - Psalm 92:1-2

The first thing that comes to my mind in the morning is to say good morning to my heavenly Father, to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I pray for the guidance and safety of my family who is a big inspiration in my life, to the members of the prayer community I belong to and to the people I will meet each day. In my own simple way, I pray that God will inspire me to love and prioritize Him. I pray most especially that He gives me the grace to be more like Him, that I may be kind, compassionate, and understanding to others. It is good to begin our day with a prayer like this - putting one's self in God's presence, acknowledging and praising Him for the gift of life.

It is so easy to be tempted by worldly activities as we are constantly bombarded by temptations. We often don't realize this situation due to our 'busyness', the constant 'on the go' from the moment we wake up until we close our eyes at the end of the day. Without knowing it, we tend to mess up our lives and the lives of our loved ones because of the whirlwind and daily grind of our so-called lives.

We could make our lives better by first accepting that we often fail because we are weak. We need to learn from our mistakes and that we need constant spiritual healing. Only in God's presence can we be constantly aware of ourselves and of our surroundings, being watchful of the enemy and the 'dark forces' that are ready to pull us down. We must start and end our day in prayer, for prayer is a wonderful tool to remind us that we are God's children. God Himself is looking forward to a time alone with us for He loves each one of us fervently. Prayer gives us the opportunity to draw strength from our Lord so that we could face the world with determination and perseverance. Together with God, our faith, hope, and love will grow.

To God be the glory forever - Amen!
