Blog: Guidelines
This page lists the guidelines that visitors reading, commenting, or, in
general, using the blog are expected to follow. Please read through the guidelines
carefully before posting comments, submitting blog entries, and/or using material from the
blog. Before doing anything, always ask yourself what Jesus would do - it has been stated
in numerous homilies and talks, but it will always have to be the first thing to consider
in decision-making.
The page has been organized in point-form to make it easier to follow.
Comments
- Make sure that your comment relates to the blog entry to which you are
posting a comment. In other words, please try to stay on topic.
- You are allowed to post any type of comment, provided that it is not a
personal or prejudicial attack on any individual or group (and, obviously, provided
that it adheres to all the rules stated in these guidelines). If you disagree
with a statement (either from other users' comments or from the blog entry itself)
and would like to criticize it, make sure you are directing your criticism at the
statement, not the person or group who made the statement.
- If you would like to post criticisms of statements or ideas, please make sure
your criticisms are constructive. A simple, "I disagree with that," comment would
not help get the rationale for your criticism across.
- Avoid posting comments exclusively in capital letters. Although it might not be
your intention, doing so is considered shouting in online discussions.
- Avoid cursing in your posts.
- Please do not spam blog entries. This is not an appropriate place to
advertise websites. You may still post links to external sites, provided that they
are related to the blog entry.
- Please note that the web administrator reserves the right to delete comments
if he deems a comment inappropriate, or if the comment does not adhere to the above
rules.
Blog Entry Submissions
- Although blog comments are free to criticize blog entries, the blog entries
themselves must be representative of Catholic Church teachings, and thus, must
be consistent with Jesus' teachings.
- If you would like a specific image to accompany your entry, you may submit this
image along with your entry. However, the image must be in JPEG format, and less
than or equal to 3MB large.
- Unfortunately, due to limitations in storage, only one image is allowed per
entry.
- When submitting your entry, please include, in your e-mail, citations to
any sources that you might have utilized (including citations to images
acquired from external page(s)/website(s)).
Using Material from the Blog
- If you wish to quote a statement from the blog, you may use the following
citation (where Author, Title of Blog Entry, Date of Entry,
and Date of Citation are replaced by the author's name, the blog entry's title,
the date the entry was posted, and the date you cited the entry, respectively.):
Author. The CMPC Blog. Title of Blog Entry [Internet].
Richmond, BC: Canadian Martyrs Prayer Community. [Date of Entry] -
[cited Date of Citation]. Available from: http://www.cmpcommunity.com/blog.
